We visited many different locations while we were in Ireland. The country is beautiful and the music is grand. The following pages are roughly broken up into three themes. These pages are still under construction, so forgive the mess
- Castles - Irish castles dotted the land. Most are watch towers built so that each was in sight of at least one other.
- Abbeys - Ireland is often thought of as the cradle of modern Christianity. They have some wonderful abbeys. It was here that St. Patrick drove the snakes out. Much of the Celtic art used today is derived from the Book of Kells.
- Stones - Of course, Ireland has many cairns and legends to go along with them (ie Queen Maeve the Warrior Queen). This section also includes High Crosses, carvings that are a combination of Christian crosses and the traditional celtic embellishments. These crosses usually marked a location of importance, such as a central marketplace, meditation site, or a gathering.
