Magh Adair is thought to have been the coronation site for the Kings of Thormond. The site may have been used for Brian Boru's coronation. There is a broken pillar that is totally obscurred by the vegetation which marks the ceremonial location atop the hill.
Old texts, annals, try to log each year by listing important events. In two annals there is a listing
which states that the tree of Magh Adair was cut down.
