O'Brien's Tower is not that old. It was built in 1835 as an observation point for tourists to view the awesome beauty of the Cliffs of Moher. Cornelius O'Brien believed that tourism would help with Ireland's economy.... and it did. It also provides shelter when the wind is strong or the rain is cold.

The Cliffs of Moher, also known as the Great Wall of Thomond, are as high as 203 meters and are about 8 kilometers long.

The best views are from the tower and it can be very crowded. The wind was very strong when we visited and the rain made the stone path slippery. The weather drove most visitors to cluster about the tower and miss out of the vistas available.
