Glinsk castle was built in 1675 by the Third Baronet of Glinsk. There may have been an earlier structure at this location, however, it was replaced by the current castle. It was the main residence for the Lord of Clonconway (Mac David Burke).

This is considered a transitional structure. Glinsk Castle was built for minumum defense with a moderate amount of living comfort. Several fireplaces with chimneys were installed at either end of the castle. There was fire which destroyed the interior so little is known of the actual layout.
